Will There Be Black Adam 2?
Black Adam makes his way into the DCEU as the last film of the studio this year and while still in theaters, the curiosity of the fans are now leading up to whether there would be a sequel to the movie of Dwayne Johnson. Well, the film has to be successful first but the sequel has always been a plan. The ending of Black Adam leaves room for more stories for the titular anti-hero and with the introduction of the Justice Society of America, it opens more possibilities for the DCEU to expand with spinoffs or even a sequel. As early as last year, the producer of Black Adam, Hiram Garcia, spoke with Collider about their vision about the future of the character in the DCEU and of course, a sequel has always been part of their plan, “We have always had a vision of where we saw we wanted this to go.”

Garcia said, “We’ve never viewed this as just a one-off movie. I’m such a gigantic comic book nerd and fan, and I love this universe so much, if you can tell from my excitement about talking about all these things.” “I’ve always gotten into this with a vision of, ‘This is the story we want to tell, this is where we would love to see this go, this is how we would see multiple pictures play out, possibly including spinoffs for individual characters,’ but there’s always been a rough, kind of loose outline in our head on an imaginary whiteboard of how we’d want to do it,” Garcia added. Still, Garcia shared that there’s the factor for the first movie to be a success, “Ultimately, we need the movie to be received well and we want fans to like it, but there’s 100% a vision of what we’d like to be doing in a multiple picture aspect when it comes to Black Adam and the JSA.” During the Black Adam premiere, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was asked by ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis about Black Adam 2. With the surprise reveal of Henry Cavill’s Superman in the film, questions lead to whether the two would have a showdown in the sequel. Johnson seems to be playing coy but given his statement, there is really the possibility of a sequel, “I don’t know. I think the question is, ‘Should it be the showdown?’ And I don’t know if that’s the way to go.” DCU’s Black Adam is currently in theaters since October 21.
