Why Did The CW Cancel Dynasty?
If you aren’t familiar with the show, Dynasty is actually a reboot of a soap drama set in high-society Atlanta. When the show launched in 2017, it became a huge hit that it caught the attention of Netflix. As a result, the streaming giant bought the global distribution rights for the show. During that time, Netflix was getting weekly episode releases until it finally released the show as a full season. It then continued to release more seasons of the show. Even though the show is not as big as the other Netflix titles like Stranger Things, each new release has performed well especially in Mainland Europe. Despite this, the show has been unable to grow its average monthly viewership. Not to mention, the recent sale of The CW TO Nexstar caused a change in its strategy, mostly to attract its older audience. Apart from Dynasty, several other shows have either been canceled or renewed for a final season. Some of the affected shows include Riverdale, The Flash, New Mexico, In The Dark, and Roswell.
Is There a Chance Netflix Will Renew Dynasty?
Yes, there is a chance for Netflix to renew Dynasty for another season. But given the current numbers of the fifth season, it’s unlikely willing to negotiate to continue the show. As revealed by Netflix Life, the production company behind the show, CBS Studios “has made no indication that the series would be saved.”
