Back in 1989, Nic Cage starred in a black comedy horror film called Vampire’s Kiss. In the movie, Cage stars as Peter Leow, a publishing executive who thinks believes he is turning into a vampire after an encounter with one. This time around, Cage is becoming the big boss himself and playing the role of Count Dracula in Renfield.
Here’s what we know about Renfield at this time:
When Is Renfield Coming Out?
Renfield is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 14, 2023. The movie will exclusively be available in theaters during that time before it becomes available for streaming services and Video On Demand. But a release date for streaming services has not yet been unveiled. The film is directed by Chris McKay, who also directed The Tomorrow War. The idea for the story was pitched by Robert Kirkman, who is most famous as the creator of the comic book series, The Walking Dead. Kirkman promises the movie to be “a fun, extremely violent comedy.” It is distributed by Universal Pictures.
What Is Renfield Story About?
Renfield centers around Count Dracula’s most loyal servant under the same name. The character, originally created by Bram Stoker, will be played by Nicholas Hoult in the movie. This is, perhaps, the very first time that a movie has been made to highlight Dracula’s henchman. We get to see Renfield’s origin story, before he became a loyal servant to the Lord of Darkness.
Also, we learn in this movie that Renfield has a love interest known as Rebecca Quincy (played by Awkwafina), who happens to be a local traffic cop. The film will be set in modern-day New Orleans and will be a horror comedy.
Who Is Part of Renfield Cast?
The cast of Renfield is composed of some pretty big names, such as the following:
