The new poster was shown at the expo, and it was also shared online through the Shield Hero website and official Twitter account. Check it out here: The teaser poster shows a desolate ruin with a mystery character. At the top of the poster are the words “Heroes And Their Regrets” along with the six of the seven deadly sins: Pride, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, and Wrath. In the Tweet that shared the poster, the third season is described as “A new story begins for Naofumi and the heroes.” Though aside from these, there’s no info revealed regarding the third season’s story. However, based on the content of the Shield Hero light novels, the third season is expected to focus on the other heroes who are in various states of distress following events in the Spirit Tortoise Arc. What was announced is the change in director for season 3. The anime’s next season will be directed by Hitoshi Haga who replaces season 2 director Masato Jinbo. Haga previously work on the series as part of the season 1 staff. For season 3, he is joined by scriptwriter Keigo Koyanagi and music composer Kevin Penkin. Animation of the third season will still be handled by Kinema Citrus. While there’s no word on why a new director was chosen, it makes sense given the series’ history given that seasons 1 and 2 each had different directors.
