The new Andor trailer features Diego Luna stating that Cassian Andor’s story takes place a long time before the events in the original Star Wars film trilogy. Interestingly, Luna also points out that Cassian might play a more important role in the Skywalker Saga than we expected. “Before a new hope emerges in a galaxy far far away. Before the creation of a devastating weapon known as the Death Star. And before a team of rebels known as Rogue One unite for the first time. An unsuspecting thief named Cassian Andor will be thrust onto a journey that sparks the birth of a Rebellion and sets in motion everything you’ve come to know,” Luna explains.
It’s an interesting perspective considering that most of us had previously perceived Cassian and the rest of the Rogue One crew as people who were brought together for one specific mission. However, it looks like Cassian had a bigger role in the main storyline. With that in mind, we can’t wait for Andor to premiere later this month. Andor stars Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, the thief who eventually becomes a Rebel spy in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The series will reveal the events that led to Cassian joining the Rebellion. Luna will be joined by Forest Whitaker, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw. Whitaker and O’Reilly, who both appeared in Rogue One, will reprise their roles as Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma, respectively. Andor is set for a three-episode premiere on Disney+ on September 21, 2022.
