The new trailer for the series gives us our first look at the anime-original story, as well as the new looks for the main cast. Check out the new RWBY: Ice Queendom trailer here: RWBY: Ice Queendom’s first three episodes premiered on June 24, and the story in these opening episodes closely followed the original RWBY series. Specifically, the first episodes functioned as recaps of volumes 1 and 2. But starting from episode 4, the anime will feature an all-new story set between the events of seasons 2 and 3. It’s written by Tow Ubukata (series composer for Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Psycho-Pass 2, and Psycho-Pass 3). Based on the new trailer, it seems that this new story will center on Weiss’ Nightmare which should be interesting for long-time series fans. Along with the trailer, a new key visual for Ice Queendom has also been released: The visual features the series’ main protagonists along with the words “Rescue the one that is trapped in the dream.” This is a strong indication that Ruby, Blake, and Yang will have to help rescue Weiss from her nightmare. RWBY: Ice Queendom is an anime by Rooster Teeth and SHAFT, and it is based on Rooster Teeth’s original RWBY animated web series. The RWBY series was initially released back in 2013, and it continues to this day, with the ninth season set to release soon. Aside from the Ice Queendom anime, there have been a lot of RWBY spin-offs over the years, with the series getting video game adaptations, as well as books and comics. New episodes of RWBY: Ice Queendom are released on Crunchyroll every week.
