Nicholas Hoult recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter where he gushed about his experience with Nicolas Cage on Renfield. “To get to work with him whilst he was playing Dracula, I don’t think there’s two more iconic things than Dracula and Nic Cage,” Hoult said. He then shared what he thought of his co-star.
“As a person, he’s such a pure soul to be around, and I’m excited for people to see what he’s done. It’s original, but it’s steeped in a lot of history, Dracula history and folklore,” Hoult said. “So it’s exciting, even though it’s a very bizarre, elevated tone for an action-comedy.” It’s an interesting tease to what we can expect of Nicolas Cage in Renfield. We are certainly not expecting a traditional version of Dracula in the film and with Cage playing the vampire, we’re looking forward to a truly memorable performance from the veteran actor. Renfield is directed by Chris McKay and it follows Nicholas Hoult as R.M Renfield as he decides he will no longer serve Count Dracula. His reason? Renfield has fallen in love with Rebecca Quincy, a feisty but perennially aggressive traffic cop. Set in New Orleans, Renfield couldn’t help but pursue his new love. The film also stars Awkwafina as Renfield’s love interest Rebecca, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Bess Rous, James Moses Black, Caroline Williams, and Brandon Scott Jones. Renfield is currently scheduled for release on April 14, 2023.
