Tarantino was recently a guest on Tom Segura’s podcast where he once again spoke about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This time, the filmmaker shared more of his thoughts about the franchise. “Part of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood is… you have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters, but they’re not movie stars. Right?” Tarantino said. He continued by explaining how fans are there for the real stars of the films.
“Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a zillion times, you know, but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star,” Tarantino stated. This isn’t the first time that Quentin Tarantino has spoken against Marvel. He previously revealed the simple reason why he hasn’t directed a comic book movie. “You have to be a hired hand to do those things,” Tarantino said. He then pointed out that he has no plans of working for any of the major franchises. “I’m not a hired hand. I’m not looking for a job,” Tarantino added. Although he won’t be working on a comic book movie, Quentin Tarantino clearly had plans for other sci-fi franchises. We already know that he had pitched an awesome Star Trek film that would have revisited a memorable episode from The Original Series. Tarantino has since left the project, but it is believed that the movie will be moving forward with a different director.
