Yu Yu Hakusho is a Japanese manga series that became a classic from the 90s written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. In 1992, Yu Yu Hakusho got its own anime television series produced by Pierrot lasting for two years. Now, it is making a comeback on Netflix as a live-action series.
As reported by Variety, Netflix’s Yu Yu Hakusho has found their very own Yusuke Urameshi who will take on the role as the detective of the underworld. It will be played by Takumi Kitamura and the series will be part of the 2023 Winter Anime season.
Takumi Kitamura is best known as Hanagaki Takemichi in the live-action series adaptation of Tokyo Revengers. Rumors have been going around about his attachment to Yu Yu Hakusho but it is only now that it is confirmed.

Netflix’s Yu Yu Hashuko will have the following to lead the series into its return on the small screens: Kazutaka Sakamoto as the executive producer, Akira Morii as the producer, and Sho Tsukikawa as the director.
Yu Yu Hakusho follows the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a high-schooler who lost his life when he saved a child from a tragic traffic accident. He was given a new role after death along with the chance to come back to life through being the Underworld Detective, looking in on cases of demons and apparition, and solving the mysteries.
Netflix’s Yu Yu Hakusho is set to premiere on the streaming platform during the Winter Anime Season in 2023.
