Deadline has reported that Marvel Studios has hired Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer to write the screenplay for Fantastic Four. The duo has actually been involved in the project before Shakman came on-board to the project and now they are working together to fully align their vision for the film. The report also mentioned that producer Kevin Feige and Shakman are now also beginning the process of casting actors for this film while the script is being written, which should also explain why Feige didn’t announce any casting news for the film at the D23 expo.
Kaplan and Springer are currently some of the hottest screenwriters in town as they have sold a number of spec scripts in the past year. They wrote the 2013 independent film Bert and Arnie’s Guide to Friendship and upcoming films such as Disaster Wedding and K-Pop: Lost in America. It is exciting to hear that the film has found its writers as it is an indication that the project is officially moving forward and they are now going full force on finally bringing the First Family to the MCU. This also comes as the film will reportedly begin production around next year ahead of its 2024 release. We should be hearing more updates about this in the coming months.
