Although Rhaenyra has a rightful claim to the throne by birthright, it wasn’t completely divulged whether the character was really interested in becoming the Queen of Westeros. Thankfully, Rhaenyra actress Milly Alcock finally has an answer.
In a recent episode of The Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon, Alcock explains Rhaenyra’s honest intentions on the Iron Throne, revealing that her character isn’t interested in political games. However, Rhaenyra is eager to change Westeros, and the Iron Throne is her best chance to turn the place around. See Alcock’s full quote below:
Upon being named the successor of the Iron Throne, this pits Rhaenyra against his uncle Daemon (Matt Smith), who is also gunning to sit on the Iron Throne. Although Rhaenyra undoubtedly has fitting qualities to be a Queen, and her desire to change Westeros makes her the rightful heir, she would surely face hardships along her way in claiming power.
Nonetheless, now that House of the Dragon had a significant time jump in Episode 3 with Emma D’arcy taking over the role of Rhaenyra, there would certainly be changes around the Iron Throne that could shift the whole narrative. House of the Dragon is available to stream on HBO Max.
