Disney+ Hints at Major X-Men Announcement Ahead of Disney Plus Day
Now, in a recent post by Disney+’s official Twitter account, it seems an X-Men announcement will finally be a headliner at the event after the account posted a GIF of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine with hashtags #DisneyPlusDay and #XMen. See the official tweet below:
Let’s admit it, Disney+ got all of us there. The X-Men is one of the long-awaited projects that may be slated for Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, this might also plainly be promotional content that aims to create buzz, which they triumphantly did.
When Will The X-Men Join The MCU?
Thankfully, Marvel Studios has already greenlit an X-Men project, a sequel to the beloved five-season animated series, X-Men ‘97. The news was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 as part of Marvel’s animation panel, set to release in Autumn 2023.
Of course, fans are still rallying for the live-action version. According to journalist Devin Faraci (via Cinema Sangha), the reason why the X-Men was non-existent at the last SDCC was due to “the contractual situation with the original Fox stuff,” which suggestively implies that the X-Men wouldn’t make an appearance until 2025.
Nonetheless, She-Hulk’s Wolverine reference and Ms. Marvel’s mutant origins revelation clearly hint that the MCU roadmap is already hinting at their arrival. Let’s just hope for now that the X-Men will be included in Marvel Studios’ panel at Disney+ Day and D23 Expo.
Disney+ day will be held on September 8 and will be streamed exclusively on the streaming service.
