Craig was recently a guest on BBC Radio 4’s Best of Today podcast where he was asked if he regretted leaving the James Bond role (via Variety). Interestingly, he pointed out that he has done everything he wanted with the part. “No, none at all. I had an incredibly fortunate 17 years of my life making this. I literally want to spend the next 20 years of my life trying to unhook it all and try and put it into a place because it was incredible. I left it where I wanted it to be. And that I was given the chance to do that with the last movie,” Craig said.
It’s an awesome thought and there is little doubt that Daniel Craig truly enjoyed being 007 in the past. However, it is clearly time to let a younger actor take over the role and continue the franchise. Although we won’t get to see him as James Bond again soon, Daniel Craig appears to have found another role that he truly enjoys. He previously played Detective Benoit Blanc in Knives Out and he will reprise the role in the sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. But will Craig continue to play Benoit Blanc? Director Rian Johnson had previously admitted that he wants to work on a third film. Not surprisingly, Craig also stated that he is ready for it. “It might be [the next thing I do],” Craig said on a Glass Onion sequel. “I don’t know,” he added. “It depends on how quick [Johnson] is.” Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will premiere on Netflix on December 23, 2022.
