The bulk of the chapter focuses on the meeting with Shikimaru, Konohamaru, and members of Team 7 (Boruto, Kawaki, Sarada, and Mitsuki), plus Sumire. Shikimaru explains the current situation and why Boruto is a threat because of the possibility of Momoshiki taking over his consciousness. As for Kawaki, Shikimaru says that since that his karma is back in addition to Isshiki’s powers, he’s considered to be an entity that Konoha can no longer control.
Then Shikimaru talks about the Kara’s clairvoyant cyborg, Eida, who’s currently traveling to Konoha via a train with Amado and Daemon. Shikimaru informs them that Eida is currently heading to Konoha after deciding to switch to their side, but there lies the issue. “All skills and jutsu are powerless thanks to her ability,” Shikimaru explains. “And the Hokage’s power and influence mean nothing to her. She doesn’t need to follow anyone’s orders.” Shikimaru goes on to explain how dangerous Eida is, and why they should avoid making an enemy out of her, at all costs: “If she wanted to, it wouldn’t be difficult for her to take over not just Konoha or the Land of Fire, but the entire world. I’m not exaggerating. That’s how much freedom she has.” When Sarada asks Shikimaru what they should do, Shikimaru says that the special mission is to “cohabitate”. Konohamaru explains that the only ones who will cohabitate are Boruto, Kawaki, and Eida. This makes perfect sense since Boruto and Kawaki are the only ones in Konoha immune to Eida’s inescapable charm. The purpose of the cohabitation is surveillance. Shikimaru tells Boruto and Kawaki that they should watch Eida, and determine how willing she is to cooperate to Konoha. After explaining the special plan to cohabitate, Shikimaru reveals to Kawaki that Eida has a crush on Kawaki, and with her clairvoyant powers, Eida feels “fatally in love” after hearing Shikimaru reveal to Kawaki her desire. Finally, Shikimaru tells them that Eida can see and hear everything, thanks to her clairvoyant powers, so they should avoid saying bad things about her to avoid pissing her off. Shikimaru remotely asks Eida: “So the diplomatic maneuvering has already begun, right Eida?” Of course, Code is another major threat against Konoha, but his location is unknown to them. With his limiters now rescinded by Amado, Code was able to manipulate the Ten-Tails chakra and create an army of humanoid creatures, as Chapter 72 revealed. Fans will have to wait to find out if the special mission for Boruto, Kawaki, and Eida to cohabitate in Konoha will work, so expect more tension to rise in the upcoming chapters. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 74 is expected to release in October 2022.
