The network first described the series as a new show that would bring Maggie and Negan into post-apocalyptic Manhattan after being cut off from the mainland long ago. The city is crumbling, filled with dead and denizens who make New York City their own world “full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror." In some leaked fan-filmed clips, Maggie and Negan remain at odds after the latter kills her husband, Glenn (Steven Yeun), in The Walking Dead Season 7. According to Entertainment Weekly, this mystery will be addressed in the final episodes of The Walking Dead, which will begin on October 2 and end on November 20.
Producer Teases Upcoming The Walking Dead Spinoff
Producer Scott M Gimple teased the upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff at the recent Comic-Con last month. “It’s a madhouse, and [Maggie and Negan] enter it and get swept up into the madhouse,” he said, via Digital Spy. “There’s a lot of conflicts. There’s a lot of action. There are zip lines. The walkers are insane. Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan Discuss Upcoming Spinoff
